All signals point towards a champion vs champion headliner at UFC 205, with Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor strongly rumoured to be taking the main event slot. The pair have traded verbal blows in recent weeks and with just eight weeks left until the New York card, it appears as the most likely fight to take the top billing.
Alvarez who defeated Rafael dos Anjos in July, via a first round TKO, has been very vocal about fighting the ‘Notorious’. The Philadelphia native trains under the tutelage of Mark Henry and Renzo Gracie alongside New York born Frankie Edgar and believes that he will get on the MSG card.

McGregor for his part has not played up to the rumours, keeping his cards close to his chest, since beating Nate Diaz in their record breaking rematch at UFC 202. The ‘Notorious’ has been working on other projects recently, including an appearance on the latest edition of the Call of Duty gaming series.
