This Saturday night is UFC 208. The Co-Main event will be a tough one for me. On one side of the cage is in my opinion the greatest MMA fighter to ever live. This guy truly is a living legend and at forty one years old Anderson Silva still wants to fight. On the other side of the cage is Derek Brunson. Derek is a young explosive fighter with great athleticism and big power. He is also a wrestling stand out and hails out of my home state, North Carolina. To say I am torn up about this fight is an understatement. So as usual before big fights, I asked some great Pro's who they think will win this epic showdown.
Irwin Rivera: “Derek would be the favorite, seeing how he is young strong and more athletic. Stylistically I believe that this is a bad match up for him, Silva has a tricky style. Derek will want to stand up and I can see Silva picking him apart on the feet. So I'll go with the underdog, Silva.”
Shonie Carter: “Silva by TKO, You know Anderson is my favorite!”
Sam Alvey: “I am going with Anderson Silva. He's just too slick to be caught by Brunson's big, but kind of sloppy striking. His style just won't land.
Celine Haga: “Brunson wins by ground and pound in the 1st round.”
Mark Henry: “Brunson”
Jimmy Rivera: No idea. My picks have been going wrong. The underdogs have been winning LOL, so I'm not going to pick.
Yaowadee Hurst: “I'm on the same page with you on Anderson Silva and Derek Brunson. I'm supporting Brunson as our local fighter, wining this fight would mean so much for his career and newly opening gym. I hope his powerful left hook would bring him the victory. Same as you are, I'm picking Silva. I really like his fighting style and looking forward to see him coming back.”
Albert Morales: “I'm rooting for the G.O.A.T. Derek is beast but Spider is the man!”
Laken Jowers: “I loved watching Anderson Silva fight when I was younger but I am not really looking forward to this fight. I understand the UFC needed a big name for this card, but I don't see it going Silva's way and I am picking Brunson for the W.”
Adam Antolin: “Might be picking with my heart on this one but I think Brunson's chin up punching style is prime for a classic Silva counter striking showcase. Either that or Brunson is just too tentative because he knows this and we get a snooze-fest with Silva pulling out the decision. Either way Silva with the W.”
It seems to be quite a split crowd on this fight, with a few more siding with the legend. This is one fight you don't want to miss live Saturday night on Pay Per View! Join me live on FB immediately after UFC 208 for a post event discussion.
