Bellator's Latest Acquisition, Valerie Letourneau

What is happening in MMA today? Well here are a few of the things happening around the world, starting with Bellator MMA.

In a not so surprising move today, Bellator announced it's signing of former UFC strawweight title challenger, Valerie Letourneau. The thirty three year old fighter started off her UFC run with three wins in a row, which earned her a title shot against current champ Joanna Champion. After a decision loss to Joanna, Valerie went on to lose another two fights in a row and wrapped up her UFC bid with a 3-3 record. Her total MMA record is currently at 8-6. She is just the most recent in a string of recent UFC fighters, heading over to Bellator.

Hawaii's Most Recent Breakout MMA Star, Ilima Macfarlane

Speaking of Letourneau, Ilima Macfarlane who had a big win in Bellator this past Friday night, is now calling for a fight against the Canadian WMMA star as an inaugural Strawweight title fight. Macfarlane had an impressive first-round submission victory over Jessica Middleton, handing the Kansas fighter her first pro loss. With the win Macfarlane moved to 6-0 in her pro MMA career, with 5 of her wins taking place inside The Ballator cage. With the minimal damage received in her fight, I expect this fight to happen sooner than later.

“Team America” Melvin Guillard, Mike Davis, Wes Sims, Shonie Carter & Josh Burns In England For The BKB Event

In Bare Knuckle Boxing News, Shonie Carter lost his bid this past weekend to become Middleweight World Champion, dropping a decision to Jimmy Sweeny. Interestingly, this was the only fight of the night that went to the score cards.

Melvin Guillard won his fight against Dan Breeze, a knock out in the second round. Check out the video below. “The Young Assassin” will now look to fight Jimmy Sweeney in June, for the title. In the mean time, Guillard will fight in Bellator MMA before his next BKB fight. Shonie Carter will also be on The BKB show in June as well.
