The UFC returns to Canada for a stacked PPV this weekend. An interesting match up in the Strawweight division was announced this week. What UFC Lightweight can you expect to see more of? Check out all the action below!
UFC 215 is This Weekend!
Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson headlines the stacked PPV against the always game Ray Borg. This fight holds lots of stakes because if Mighty Mouse gets the win, he will break Anderson Silva’s Most Title Defenses record. Not many people are giving Ray Borg a chance, as Las Vegas currently has Demetrious Johnson listed as a 10-1 favorite. If Mighty Mouse does get the win, it is hard to argue that he won’t get the winner of Cody Garbrandt vs. TJ Dillashaw.
Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko will hope to lock horns once again this weekend. The two were last scheduled to fight in the Main Event at UFC 213. Nunes ended up pulling out of the fight just hours before they were scheduled to put it all on the line. Many people believed that Nunes had a bad weight cut and needed more time to recover. Nunes blamed it on a sinus infection. The last time these two-last fought was over a year ago, but both have been extremely successful since that fight. Nunes went on to win the Bantamweight Championship and defended it against Ronda Rousey. Shevchenko eliminated all the contenders that the UFC put in front of her in route to a title shot. With Nunes winning the first fight by a close decision, fans have no idea what to expect when these to women finally meet on Saturday night.
Angela Magana Makes her UFC Return
After having such an eventful year and some time off from the UFC, fans can finally cheer to have Magana back in the Octagon. It was announced that Magana will fight Amanda Cooper at UFC 218 in Detroit, Michigan. Both ladies competed on The Ultimate Fighter but found different results. Cooper made it to the Finals on her season but lost to Tatiana Suarez in the First Round. A win over Magana could be huge for Cooper since she is still so new to the sport. When I reached out to Magana to get her thoughts on the upcoming fight she stated, “I’m incredibly excited and feel as if I was signed to the UFC again.” Although Magana will be fighting in her opponent’s home town, fans know they can expect the best from her.
Michael Chiesa Extends his UFC Contract
Going into the Kevin Lee fight, Chiesa had 2 fights left on his contract counting that one. If he were to have won that fight, Chiesa could have used that to bargain for a better UFC contract. Some fighters choose to finish out their contract and test the waters of other promotions in hopes of bigger checks. Although Chiesa had one fight left on his contract, he has chosen to safely sign again with the UFC. Michael Chiesa and the UFC have agreed to a 4 Fight contract. Chiesa wants to fight one more time this year. Who do you want to see him face in his return?
