Some bad news struck when it was announced that Paige VanZant pulled out of her upcoming fight with Jessica Eye. The two were scheduled to fight in the new Women’s Flyweight division at UFC 216 on October 7th. It would seem that with today's tweet by “12 Guage”, things are worse for her than we originally thought.
Jessica Eye has only found success in 1 out of her 7 fights in the UFC. Her whole UFC career has been spent in the Bantamweight division at 135 lbs, with all of her losses coming by Decision. Before Eye entered the UFC, she was quite the dominant fighter in Bellator MMA's flyweight division at 125 lbs.
PVZ owns a record of 4-2 in the Strawweight division with 3 of those victories coming inside the distance. Paige has said in the past that the weight cuts to 115 lbs. were extremely difficult for her and the move up to Flyweight would be healthier.
PVZ took to twitter to tell her fans her reason for withdrawal. Hopefully this will be a quick recovery for the young fighter. Check out her tweet below.
VanZant also shared the cover to her book, which will be out next April. It is titled “RISE Surviving The Fight Of My Life”.
